Exchange Known Issues
This page will be updated with known usability issues for both Exchange e-mail and calendaring functions, including potential workarounds and/or progress toward resolution of the issues.
Microsoft Entourage 2004 for Mac: Cannot Assign a Delegate
- Impact: When you try to assign a delegate for your mailbox using Microsoft Entourage 2004 for Mac, you may experience the following error message: “Entourage cannot connect to the Exchange server. Make sure that your password was entered correctly and try again. (Error: 64927).”
- Workaround: Use Microsoft Outlook for Windows to assign a delegate for your mailbox. After you assign a delegate for your mailbox by using Outlook for Windows, you can use Entourage 2004 for Mac to access shared folders and mailboxes.
- Resolution: Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in their knowledge base article http://support.microsoft.com/kb/922755

Microsoft Exchange 2003: 1,000 Item Limit
- Impact: If you have more than 1,000 items in one of Exchange’s key folders (Inbox, Contacts, Calendar, Sent, Deleted Items), or in a folder that you access often, your Exchange performance may be impacted.
- Workaround: Keep no more than 1,000 items in individual folders. Note that subfolders do not count in the total number of items for a folder. For example, if your Inbox has 20 items in it, and you have three subfolders that each contain 50 items, your Inbox item total would still only be 20.
- Resolution: Microsoft has acknowledged the problem but there is no indication of a resolution.

Outlook Web Access: Recurring Appointments Missing
- Impact: Some recurring appointment instances may not be visible in Outlook Web Access (OWA) if you have too many calendar items that meet the criteria of the specific calendar view (e.g. “Week” view).
- Workaround: Refreshing the calendar view in Outlook Web Access may allow you to view the missing appointment.
- Resolution: Microsoft has acknowledged the problem but there is no indication of a resolution.
