Frequently Asked QuestionsWho can request Exchange service? CU Boulder Faculty and Staff members. Please note that requests to add more accounts will be selectively processed with a preference towards departments that are already using the ITS Exchange service in order to maintain a high quality of service and meet your needs for new accounts. How much does the Exchange service cost? The Microsoft Exchange service is no longer a for-fee service; it is now provided to the campus by ITS as a common-good service. This is part of a longer term direction of providing an all-new Microsoft Exchange service to accommodate all faculty and staff on our campus. How do I request an Exchange account? Call the IT Service Center at 303-735-HELP or send an e-mail to help@colorado.edu to begin the account request process. Which e-mail and calendar programs work with ITS’ Exchange service? Outlook 2003, Outlook 2007, Entourage 2004 and Entourage 2008 are fully supported. Apple Mail and Thunderbird are compatible with e-mail only. Apple iCal, Mozilla Sunbird, and Google Calendar are not supported. How can I access my Exchange e-mail and calendar when I am away from my computer? You can access your Exchange service using Outlook Web Access at the following web page: http://exchange.colorado.edu. For a short tutorial, visit www.colorado.edu/its/docs/email/exchange/owa. What's my username and password? You will be using your Active Directory (AD) account. That account automatically synchronizes with your CU Login Name and IdentiKey password. How do I move my existing e-mail to Exchange? After your Exchange account is setup you can manually drag-and-drop your e-mail messages and folders from your old e-mail service to Exchange. Instructions are available at: www.colorado.edu/its/docs/email/exchange/programs/ Does the Exchange calendar “talk” to CULink Calendar or WebCal? Due to a lack of existing calendar standards, a meeting invitation sent from an Exchange user to a CULink calendar or WebCal user will not appear on that user's calendar (and vice versa). The user may manually add, modify, or remove the event to their respective calendar. Can students or non-Exchange users view my calendar? No, other people need to have an Exchange account of their own to view your calendar. You will also need to grant others permission to view your calendar. Can I have multiple calendars? You can create multiple person calendars or multiple group calendars. You may also have resource calendars to schedule rooms. How do I request a resource calendar? Please contact the IT Service Center at 303-735-HELP or e-mail help@colorado.edu with your request. Get HelpIT Service Center |
