The Realtime Monitor icon will display in the system tray when the software is running, as shown below:
When a virus is found you will receive a pop-up dialogue box which will provide the location of the file and what was done with the virus.
Realtime Monitor - critcal informationIt is not advised that you ever disable the realtime monitor. The realtime monitor is your primary defense for stopping a virus before it can harm your computer. If you need to disable the realtime monitor, click here for more information. Manually Starting a Virus Scan1. Click the Realtime Monitor icon in the top right-hand corner of the screen. Then click Launch eTrust ITM from the drop-down menu.
2. Click the eTrust Antivirus icon from the left-hand side of the screen.
3. The window will automatically open in the Scan tab.
4. To start a scan, click the drop-down menu under Safety Level and then click Secure for a thorough scan.
5. Under the Infection Treatment section, click on the drop-down menu under the File Actions: and click Cure File to cure any infected files. The defaults for the the cure options should be fine the way they are. If you have any issues with curing a file, often CUantivirus will rename the file. Call ITS if you need extra assistance.
6. In the middle section, you can select the files and/or folder that you want to scan. By clicking the check box next to your computer's name, the scan will check all the files and folders on your computer. (Note: this can take a while, especially if you have a large hard drive).
You can also choose individual folders to check.
7. Click the Scan Now button to run the scan.
8. The scan will review all the folders and files that you selected. If you selected alot of folders or the entire computer, it can take a long time to finish a thorough scan.
9. Once the scan is finished, check Total Infections to see if any viruses were found. Click View Detail Scan Logs.
10. Once the log file opens up, you can click on a scan to see details of the scan itself. (Note: Click on the image to see a more detailed version.) 11. The Event Detail window will pop-up showing what actions were taken with any infected files found. Most often, viruses are "cured". Sometimes, files are renamed when a cure fails.
