CU-Boulder's Select Program for Microsoft Software

Where to buy Microsoft software

Students can get reduced prices on Microsoft products at the bookstore (Buffalo Chip) and even better prices purchasing online through CU Connect.

Faculty and staff have an additional option which is much less expensive, through the campus reseller, Insight. Contact Insight at 1-800-269-2523 to purchase licenses using ACARD.

See the current price list from Insight.

If purchasing only licenses, you receive only an invoice by email; be sure to save the invoice as proof of your purchase. If you require a formatted printed invoice (in PDF form), wait 2 days after purchase and then request it, from Insight.

Installing the Software

You can have the software installed on your computer(s) by scheduling an ITS BugBuster visit by calling the the ITS Service Center at 5-HELP (303-735-4357) or sending mail to help@colorado.edu. The BugBuster will need to see your (email) invoice from Insight.

If your department wishes to install its own software, and needs the actual media (CDs, DVDs), it can be purchased separately, at $23 per set. Media are sent from Microsoft and usually take about 3 business days to arrive.

The State of Colorado Select License

A state contract has been signed with Insight to cover the MS Select 6 program. When a license purchase is made under the Select License, the ordering department is only buying authorization to have Microsoft software on their machines. For additional information on purchasing Microsoft products at UCB, or on Microsoft licensing, please contact the ITS Site Licensing office, sitelic@colorado.edu.
