  Configuring E-mail LDAP Directory Service

 

Note: Capitalization is very important for LDAP Directory Service. Without the correct capitalization, LDAP searches will fail.

Outlook 2007
Thunderbird
Entourage 2008
iPhone

Outlook 2007

1. Open Microsoft Outlook. Click the Tools drop-down menu from the top of the program. Click on Account Settings... from the drop-down menu.

2. Select the Address Books tab.

3. Select New...

4. Select Internet Directory Service (LDAP) and click Next.

5. In Server Name: enter directory.colorado.edu in the text box.

6. Select More Settings...

7. In the window that opens make sure that for Port: 636 in entered and click the Use Secure Sockets Layer box.

8. Select the Search tab. Choose the Custom option in Search Base and enter dc=Colorado,dc=EDU and click OK.

9. Click Next.

10. Click Finish and you now have LDAP configured.

Thunderbird

1. Open Thunderbird and select Address Book from the program menu.

2. Click the File drop-down menu from the top of the program. Click the New menu, then click LDAP Directory… from the drop-down menu.

3. Choose a name for the directory and in Hostname: enter directory.colorado.edu

4. In Base DN: enter dc=Colorado.edu,dc=EDU.

5. Select Use Secure connection (SSL) and make sure that Port Number: is 636 which should change automatically when you select SSL.

6. Click OK

7. The directory will appear in your Address Book.

Entourage 2008

1. Open Entourage and select the Tools drop-down menu. Click the Accounts menu.

2. Select the New drop-down menu.

3. Select Directory Service from the drop-down menu.

4. Chose a name for the directory and enter it in Account Name

5. In LDAP server: enter directory.colorado.edu

6. Click on Click here for advanced LDAP options

7. Select This LDAP server requires a secure connection (SSL) and make sure that the LDAP port: is set to 636.

8. Select the Options tab.

9. In Search Base: enter dc=Colorado,dc=EDU

10. Click OK and you are done!

iPhone

1. Select Settings and mail contacts calendar.

2. Select Add Account

3. Select Other

4. Select Add LDAP account

5. In server: text box enter directory.colorado.edu

6. Click Next

7. Click Continue

8. Click Save
