Configuring E-mail Programs for CULink — Windows Mobile 6 Device

ITS Help Documents >> ITS E-mail and Calendar Services Documentation >> CULink >> Configuring E-mail Programs >> Windows Mobile 6 Device

Overview

You can configure your Windows Mobile 6 device to send and receive CULink e-mail messages. These instructions are for all CULink e-mail users (faculty, staff, students, and sponsored affiliates). Note: This document uses Windows Mobile Professional (which uses a touch screen), but the instructions are the same for Windows Mobile Standard.

Instructions

1. Select Start, then Messaging.

2. Select New E-mail Account.

3. Enter your e-mail address into the field provided. Make sure to de-select the Try to get e-mail settings automatically from the Internet check box, then select Next.

4. Select Internet e-mail from the Your e-mail provider: menu. Select Next.

5. Enter your full name, then an Account display name such as CULink. Then, select Next.

6. Under Incoming Mail Server, enter culink.colorado.edu. Then select IMAP4 from the Account type menu. Select Next when finished.

7. Enter your CU Login name and IdentiKey password. Click the Save password checkbox if you don't want to enter your password each time you try to access your e-mail, or sync. Then, select Next.

8. In the Outgoing (SMTP) mail server: field, enter smtp.colorado.edu. Make sure that both check boxes are checked: Outgoing server requires authentication, and Use the same user name and password for sending e-mail. Then, select Advanced Server Settings.

9. Make sure that both checkboxes for Require SSL for Incoming e-mail and Require SSL for Outgoing e-mail are both checked. Then, select Done.

10. Select Next.

11. Click the Automatic Send/Receive menu. This option shows how often your device will sync with CULink to check for e-mails. The default option is 2 hours. Select whichever option you feel is most appropriate for you. Select Finish.

12. Your inbox should have opened after your account information was verified. Now, you need to make sure that e-mails are deleted from the server when you delete them, to prevent duplicate copies of e-mails from filling up the server.

13. Select Menu, then Tools.

14. Select Options from the menu that appears.

15. Select your CULink account from the account list. It will likely say colorado.edu. (Note: If you are using Windows Mobile Standard, select Account Settings).

16. Select Next.

17. Select Next again.

18. Select Next again.

19. Select Next again.

20. Select Next again.

21. Select Advanced Settings.

22. Select Delete them off the server from the When deleting messages: menu. Select Done.

23. Select Next.

24. This screen allows you to limit how much is downloaded to your device. Select Finish.

25. Your Windows Mobile device is now set up to work with your CULink account.
