Configuring E-mail Programs for CULink — Outlook 2003

Overview

If you are familiar with setting up an e-mail account with Outlook 2003, you can skip to the Quick Start Configuration Settings. If you need assistance in setting up your new account, this document will walk you through setting up a CULink account. You can configure Outlook 2003 to send and receive CULink e-mail messages. These instructions are for all CULink e-mail users (faculty, staff, students, and sponsored affiliates).

Instructions

1. Click on the Tools drop-down menu and select E-mail Accounts...

2. The E-mail Accounts window will open. From the E-mail section, select Add a new e-mail account and click on the Next button.

3. From the Server Type menu, select IMAP and click on the Next button.

4. In the User Information section, enter your information:

  1. In the Your Name: text field, enter your first and last name.
  2. In the E-mail Address: text field, enter your e-mail address. Please use the first.last@colorado.edu format.

5. In the Server Information section, enter the following information:

  1. In the Incoming mail server (IMAP): text field, enter culink.colorado.edu
  2. In the Outgoing mail server (SMTP): text field, enter smtp.colorado.edu

6. In the Logon Information section enter the following information:

  1. In the User Name: text field, enter your CU Login Name
  2. In the Password: text field, enter your IdentiKey password.

7. Click on the More Settings... button.

8. The Internet E-mail Settings window will open. Click on the Outgoing Server tab, as shown below:

9. On the Outgoing Server tab, select the following:

  1. My outgoing server (SMTP) require authentication
  2. Use same settings as my incoming mail server

10. Click on the Advanced tab.

11. On the Advanced tab, select the following:

  1. For Incoming server (IMAP), check mark This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL)
  2. For Outgoing server (SMTP), check mark This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL)

12. Click on the OK button.

13. Back at the E-mail Accounts window, click on the Next button.

14. You should now receive a success messsage, congratulating you on the successful setup of your CULink account. Click on the Finish button.

15. You can begin using Outlook 2003 to send and receive CULink e-mail messages.

Quick Start Configuration Settings

  • Incoming Mail Server
    • Type:  IMAP
    • Host: culink.colorado.edu
      • SSL Enabled
      • Authentication: Password
      • Port: 993
    • User name: your CU Login name
    • Password: your IdentiKey password
    • Root Folder Path: INBOX
  • Outgoing Mail Server
    • Type: SMTP
    • Host: smtp.colorado.edu
      • SSL Enabled
      • Authentication: Password
      • Port: 25
    • User name: your CU Login name
    • Password: your IdentiKey password
