Improve E-mail Security with SSLWindows Outlook Express 5 |

| Outlook Express e-mail client users are now required to improve e-mail security by configuring this e-mail program for secure connections, also known as SSL (Secure Sockets Layer). To configure your e-mail client for SSL involves making a slight modification to your e-mail settings. Follow these instructions to secure your connection. To open Outlook Express, click on the Start button, go to Programs and then select Outlook Express 5 2. Once the program is open, click on the Tools drop-down menu. 3. Select Accounts.
4. Click on the Mail tab, select the CU e-mail account you want to make secure, and click the Properties button.
5. Click on the Advanced tab near the top right. 6. NOTE: In the Outgoing Mail section, do not check mark the box associated with This server requires a secure connection SSL. Leave it unchecked. 7. Under the Incoming Mail selection, check mark the box associated with This server requires a secure connection (SSL). Your window will look like one of the following:
8. Click OK. 9. Click the Close button to close the Internet Accounts window.
10. Now test what you have done by sending and receiving e-mail. You can do this by composing an e-mail to yourself, sending the e-mail, and checking for new messages. If this process runs successfully you have properly configured this e-mail client for secure connections. 11. If you run into errors while checking or sending mail, go through steps 1-10 to verify the configuration changes you have made. 12. Congratulations! Your e-mail client should now be set for secure connections (SSL).
