Macintosh SSH Secure Shell Tunnel for FTP (or publish) tools

To read more about Secure Connections, go to the Encrypted Authentication web page.

Many web page creators enjoy using the built-in FTP or publishing function that their web page creation application has. This includes programs like Dreamweaver, Netscape Composer, and Microsoft Frontpage. CU-Boulder web page creators can now protect their login name and passwords while still using the built-in FTP or publishing function of their web page creation application. To make a secure connection, the built-in FTP or publish function will have to run through a Macintosh "tunnel" program called SSH (Secure Shell).

Prerequisites

  • Apple OS 9 (users of older versions of Mac OS should contact (303) 735-HELP for upgrade information)
  • OS 9 Kerberos Libraries (installed with the Secure Macintosh Installer)
  • MacSSH (installed with the Secure Macintosh Installer)

OR

  • OS X 10
  • OS X and OS 9 Kerberos Libraries (installed with the Secure Macintosh Installer)
  • MacSSH (installed with the Secure Macintosh Installer)

Install the Secure Macintosh Installer

This is a single installer for both OS 9 and OS X systems. . The installer is around 12MB in size, so you will need to put it on a zip disk or other portable media if you are taking them elsewhere to install.
