Overview
The information below describes IdentiKeys and ITS's e-mail and calendar service.
IdentiKey
An IdentiKey consists of your CU Login Name and a unique password. An IdentiKey allows access to most of ITS's services, such as CUConnect, CULearn, CULink, and other great services. Learn more at www.colorado.edu/its/docs/accounts/identikey.html.
E-mail and Calendar Service
CU-Boulder faculty, staff, and students receive a CU-Boulder e-mail account, with a first.last@colorado.edu e-mail address. E-mail is an official means of communication at CU-Boulder. They also have access to calendar service.
Getting Started Instructions:
For more about using all of ITS's e-mail and calendar services, including CULink, visit www.colorado.edu/its/docs/email.
Servers
A server is a centrally managed large computer with a specific purpose. ITS has servers for e-mail and web page creation. IdentiKey is a specialized account that unlike other accounts, does not have a corresponding server associated with it.
CULink Accounts
CULink is an ITS e-mail and calendar service for all CU-Boulder faculty, staff, students, and affiliates.
Spot.colorado.edu, ucsu.colorado.edu, rintintin.colorado.edu and other ITS Unix based servers
Some CU-Boulder faculty, staff, and students utilize other ITS servers such as spot.colorado.edu, ucsu.colorado.edu, nd rintintin.colorado.edu for e-mail and/or web page hosting. E-mail can be accessed through an e-mail program such as Outlook, or through a secure terminal program called Pine. To learn more, visit www.colorado.edu/its/docs/email/otherservers.
Web Account
Faculty and staff have a web account. This is used to store web pages that can be accessed from your very own URL (e.g., http://spot.colorado.edu/~ralphie).
A web account allows you to:
- Create and host a personal web site
- Store files for online download
Students do not have a web account, but instead use their IdentiKeys to access WebFiles through CUConnect. For help creating web pages to store on this account go to the Step-by-step guide to creating web pages at CU-Boulder .
