CULearn is changing the face of WebCT
at CU-Boulder
CULearn, the next generation of WebCT at CU-Boulder, has launched. CULearn
encompasses software, service and support, all geared toward enhancing
online learning, either as a complement to traditional classroom-based
courses or alone as a web-based offering. At the core of CULearn is WebCT
Campus Edition 6, an upgrade from version 4.1, which is currently in
use on campus. This new version has a new look and a number of new and
improved features, including:
- A new Group Manager tool, which allows instructors to break up a
class into smaller groups for such activities as group chats and assignments.
- A new Selective Release feature, which allows instructors to distribute
material only when certain conditions are met.
- Improved and integrated Chat and Whiteboard tools that offer much
more flexibility than their predecessors.
- An improved, spreadsheet-style Grade Book.
- An interactive Student View that gives course designers an exact
representation of how students will experience their course.
- And many more helpful changes and additions.
CULearn runs in a more robust hardware environment which should
improve reliability. Additionally, CULearn includes University of
Colorado branding and other customizations that will lend to a familiar
and friendly look and feel.
ITS is offering
hands-on "Introduction to CULearn" workshops. You can
find details for these and other ITS training offerings at www.colorado.edu/its/training.
Welcome to CULearn
- An online learning demonstration for faculty that introduces the
CULearn interface.
- A tools comparison, featuring CULearn and WebCT 4.1.
