Two related IT projects are in progress which will extend the campus's existing networking infrastructure far into the future: a wireless expansion and upgrade, and a wired network upgrade.
Campus Rewire Project
The Campus Rewire Project will upgrade the campus wired network in general fund buildings over a three year period in order for the physical infrastructure to support network speeds up to 1 gigabit per second. The project will consist of three phases over the three year period. The rewire project is expected to be disruptive at times; however, steps will be taken to minimize the impact of the upgrades on campus customers. To learn more about the Campus Rewire Project please check for updates at www.colorado.edu/its/networking/rewire.

Because this project is being executed in phased rollouts, you can expect to see more specific announcements that will be disseminated through building proctors and technical liaisons as work approaches your building.
Wireless Expansion and Upgrade Completed
The Wireless Expansion and Upgrade project has completed. UCB Wireless is now available across campus in many locations. The effort to expand wireless coverage on the campus has increased the coverage area from 30 percent to about 80 percent of indoor building space on campus. The project included improved roaming, new service management technology, and improved network security for your wireless connections. More information about UCB Wireless can be found at www.colorado.edu/its/wireless.
