Achromatic Systems: A Closer Look at the Aberrated System

Below are images of the area marked by the dashed box of the traditional, chromatic aberrated system shown in Figure 1a. Here the individual channels corresponding to red, green and blue are shown as well as the composite, three color image. Upon closer inspection, the severity of the chromatic aberration is quite obvious. Although the blue channel is in focus, the green and red channels have lost nearly all resolution.
