Graduate Student Appreciation Week Celebrates Our Dedicated Scholars
A statement by Andrew Poppe, UGGS president

As finals, research papers and comprehensive exams bear down on graduate and professional students at the end of the semester, it's important to take a minute and reflect on the value of graduate and professional education at the University of Colorado at Boulder.

Graduate and professional students contribute to the core mission of the university in many ways, including serving as teaching assistants and graduate part-time instructors for undergraduate classes, and enabling world-class research in a wide range of subjects.

Graduate Student Appreciation Week, co-sponsored by the United Government of Graduate Students (UGGS), the Graduate School and Career Services, is a week-long celebration of the oft-unrewarded work done by graduate and professional students on campus. Events during the week include a meet-and-greet coffee hour with the graduate student officers from UGGS, a trivia night to get grads out of labs and libraries, and a speaking engagement by a CU alumnus with a world-class resumé.

The week is capped off with a marquee event hosted by the Graduate School, ‘Much Ado about Grad Education’ that offers a series of panels and workshops addressing the challenges of getting into, surviving, and getting out of graduate school. Visit the website for a complete list of events.

While many graduate and professional students are happy to simply survive graduate school and get out with a job offer, UGGS is committed to ensuring a healthy, vibrant and enjoyable graduate experience at the University of Colorado at Boulder.
