45th Annual Gamow Lecture
The 45th George Gamow Memorial Lecture takes place Monday, March 29 at 7:30 p.m. in Macky Auditorium. Free and open to the public. Richard Alley, professor of geosciences and associate of Earth and Environmental Systems Institute at Pennsylvania State University, will present “Learning While Burning: Peak (whale) Oil, Changing Climate and Our Future.” More information can be found on the lecture series website. The George Gamow Memorial Lectures were initiated by the Department of Physics and Mrs. Barbara Gamow after the death of her husband, the eminent Russian-born physicist who joined the physics faculty in 1956. Campus Alerts Test April 2
The Campus Alerts emergency text messaging service will be tested on Friday, April 2 at noon. If you have signed up to receive alerts, you should receive a text message shortly after 12 p.m. If you are signed up for the service and do not receive a message, notify IT Services at 303-735-HELP. CU will host an information table with representatives from CU Environmental Health & Safety from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the UMC loggia. Volunteers with laptops also will be available to help students, faculty and staff sign up for the Campus Alerts system. Campus community members with a colorado.edu, cu.edu, or cufund.org email address can sign up for the system on the website.

Register for the Annual Buffalo Can Challenge

The Buffalo Can Challenge will be held in Carlson Gym on Friday, April 9. For the first time, the event is being held in conjunction with the Conference on World Affairs. Any campus group, department, office, and all student, staff, and faculty are welcome to register as a team. Registration deadline is April 1. All canned food and cash gifts will be donated to the Community Food Share of Boulder County. March 2010 MetamorphoSIS Project News
On March 15th, we introduced our largest group of users to-date to ISIS, when users outside the Registrar's office began to use the new system for fall 2010 pre-registration activities and students on all three campuses started searching for classes using the new Online Student Center. In this issue of MetamorphoSIS Project News (PDF), you'll find an update on the March 15th go-live as well as information on new ISIS functionality: enrollment, ISIS training: new online tutorials, ISIS financial aid functionality, and the new Online Student Center.
