People Behind the Scenes
People Behind the Scenes

Who keeps our university in top shape? It's the People Behind the Scenes! Meet Alice Clark, assistant to the chancellor.

What is one thing you would like people to know about the work you do?

My official job title is assistant to the chancellor. I sit at the front desk at 914 Broadway, the new (since October 2006) location of the Office of the Chancellor. I have the privilege of meeting and greeting visitors to the building. Answering questions that come in and taking complaints from students, parents, and the community is part of my job. I handle the open records requests that come to this office, as the chancellor is the official custodian of records. I coordinate the Chancellor’s Employee of the Year event each spring.

What do you like best about being a part of the CU community?

I really enjoy the people whom I have met throughout the years, and my colleagues in this office are the best. It is interesting to be a part of higher education, to see how the students develop as they go through their years here. The students are amazing in their accomplishments. Each commencement we have a soloist from the school of music who is extremely professional and so delightful to hear. The university provides an invigorating environment, and the inventions and discoveries that happen here are amazing.

What is your favorite activity/interest outside of work?

I have four grown children and my family’s get-togethers are my most enjoyable activity outside of work. I have two miniature horses that are fun, and one drives a little doctor’s buggy, and I love to be around them. My lab-mix dog keeps my husband and me entertained at home. I’m active in my Erie United Methodist church, and I play the organ there every Sunday.
