Custodian Appreciation Week
Sept. 14 through 20 is Custodian Appreciation Week. Campus leadership invite all to applaud the extraordinary work of the nearly 400 campus custodians who keep our buildings in top shape. Take time to thank the people who work hard every day to keep CU-Boulder looking its best. Custodial staff will be recognized at an invitation only event on Friday, Sept. 12 at the UMC.

CSF Director Jim Symons completes tenth season
Congratulations to Jim Symons, who with the Colorado Shakespeare Festival’s 2008 production of Henry the Eighth, completed his tenth CSF directing assignment and became the director with the most CSF shows in its 50-year history.

Kapteyn, Murnane to receive 2009 Ahmed Zewail Award
Physics Professor and JILA Fellow Henry Kapteyn and Distinguished Professor and JILA Fellow Margaret Murnane of the Department of Physics and Electrical and Computer Engineering have been selected for the 2009 Ahmed Zewail Award in Ultrafast Science and Technology by the American Chemical Society. The prize is to "recognize outstanding and creative contributions to fundamental discoveries or inventions in ultrafast science and technology in areas of physics, chemistry, biology, or related fields." Established in 2005, the award honors Ahmed Zewail from the California Institute of Technology who received the 1999 Nobel Prize in chemistry for his work in femtochemistry. University Communications designers receive award
Mike Campbell and Kim Warner of University Communications creative services and freelance illustrator John Martin received the Award of Excellence from the University & College Design Association for their 2007 football invitation package. The UCDA judges evaluated nearly 1,600 entries and issued 193 awards. The award winners will be featured at this year's Annual UCDA design conference in Savannah, Georgia, Oct. 4 through 7.
