2008 Summer Olympics roundup
The CU Buffaloes proved their athletic prowess in the Beijing 2008 Summer Olympics. In the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase, Billy Nelson placed 29th in his first Olympics with a time of 8:36.66. Jorge Torres placed 25th in the 10,000-meter run with a time of 28:13.93. Jenny Barringer had the privilege of competing in the debut of women's 3,000-meter steeplechase. She finished ninth with a time of 9:22.26. And assistant coach Casey Malone competed in his second Olympics in the discus throw, finishing 19th with a distance of 61.26m. He has successfully coached CU throwers for the past eight seasons and brought them to victory with the outdoor Big 12 title.
