Folsom Field zero-waste program announced

On Aug. 5, the university announced "Ralphie's Green Stampede" zero-waste and carbon-reduction program at Folsom Field. The program's goal is to move toward zero-waste at Folsom Field during the football season and invest in local carbon-reduction projects to match energy used to power the stadium, for team travel and other football-related energy use. It is estimated that at least 90 percent of waste generated at Folsom Field this year will be recycled or composted. For more information, see the press release.

Technology Transfer breakfast for new faculty

All CU faculty are invited to attend the Technology Transfer New Faculty Breakfast Aug. 20 in the ATLAS Building, room 229. A continental breakfast will begin at 8:30 a.m., followed by a presentation and Q&A session, 8:45 a.m. – 9:30 a.m. While it is aimed at new faculty, it may benefit current faculty to know about the resources that the Technology Transfer Office provides to support research and commercialization initiatives. Avoid the start-of-the-semester crunch and reserve CULearn courses now for the fall semester. Requests for courses should be made through the Faculty Tool Kit channel in CUConnect. Request new blank courses or courses based on a course template already in the system dating as far back as fall 2006.

CU-Boulder’s 60-year Olympic Games history
CU-Boulder has a strong history of sending student athletes and alumni to compete in the Olympics, starting 1948 when David Bolen finished fourth in the 400-meter run at the London games. Since then, 69 athletes from CU have been to the Olympics with 21 competing in alpine skiing, 18 in track and field events, 13 in Nordic skiing, three each in basketball, luge, figure skating and cycling, two in mountain biking, and one each in bobsled, equestrian, snowboarding and freestyle skiing.
