IN THE SPOTLIGHT People Behind the Scenes
Who keeps our university in top shape? It’s the People Behind the Scenes! Meet John Krueger, assistant athletic director for facilities, Department of Athletics.
What is one thing you would like people to know about the work you do? My job involves much more than making sure our teams have a safe place to practice and compete. I also participate on an emergency management committee and in the production of university commencement activities, as well as many other events such as the Bolder Boulder, July 4th fireworks show and concerts. As much fun as it is to be involved in successful sporting events, I take just as much pride and enjoyment in helping produce a successful event for the general campus community.
What do you like best about being a part of the CU community? I have been an employee of the athletics department for over 26 years. Over that period, I have been able to participate in building winning programs, building new facilities and building many good relationships on campus. I have always enjoyed the energy that exists on campus, much of it provided by the students.
What is your favorite activity/interest outside of work? The nature of my job puts many demands on my time beyond “normal” work hours, which often limits my options. I keep it pretty simple: I choose to spend time with my family, play an occasional round of golf and vacation on Lake Powell. |
