IN THE SPOTLIGHT People Behind the Scenes
Who keeps our university in top shape? It's the People Behind the Scenes! Meet Shashi Pillai, Human Resources communications and outreach coordinator and trainer. What is one thing you would like people to know about the work you do? My work in the Department of Human Resources (HR) is interesting, stimulating and rewarding. I have the opportunity to work with a wide variety of people, both as a trainer and as the communications and outreach coordinator. I conduct new employee orientations and I also coordinate a fabulous leadership development program for staff called the University Perspective Program. As the communications and outreach coordinator, I work closely with the HR leadership team to communicate important HR related issues, policies and procedures in a timely manner. I also work with key personnel in over 30 departments who assist the HR department with the development and implementation of HR initiatives. What do you like best about being a part of the CU community? It is great to be a part of a vibrant campus community of students, scholars and staff. I enjoy the myriad opportunities for intellectual, social and cultural engagement. What is your favorite activity/interest outside of work? I love to travel, so I am always interested in connecting with people who share the same passion. I also enjoy spending time with my daughter, who just completed her sophomore year at CU and catching up with my son who goes to school in New York City |
