Deborah Coffin named Associate Vice Chancellor and Dean of Students
Deb Coffin has been named Associate Vice Chancellor and Dean of Students at CU-Boulder. She has served as an interim since July 2008. Prior to this position, she served as assistant vice chancellor for Student Affairs and supervised the departments of Housing & Dining Services, Residence Life, Greek Life and the Alcohol and Other Drugs program. The Associate Vice Chancellor and Dean of Students oversees the assistant Dean of Students for Student Success & Retention, Victim Assistance, Housing & Dining Services, Residence Life, the University Memorial Center, Judicial Affairs, and Orientation.
Department of Physics receives faculty grant
The Henry Luce Foundation has awarded CU- Boulder a grant of $645,000 to fund a Clare Boothe Luce assistant professorship of physics. Professor John Cumalat and Professor and Associate Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs, Tricia Rankin pursued the opportunity, supported by Dean of the College of Arts & Sciences Todd Gleeson, Professor and Associate Dean Sue Beatty, and Provost Phil DiStefano. The award is named in honor of Clare Boothe Luce and benefits women in the areas of science, mathematics and engineering.
Buff Energy Star award winners announced
Bobbie Klein (Center for Science & Technology Policy Research), Carrie Mares (Clare Small) and Deanna Knowles and Kathy Redman (jointly - Continuing Education Building) will receive one-time cash bonuses of $1,000 from the Vice Chancellor for Administration in recognition of their Buff Energy Star building achievements during fiscal year 2007-08. UMC marketing graphic designers receive three awards
Two UMC marketing graphic designers are recipients of three awards from the Region 13 Association of College Unions International “U Did What?” design exhibit and competition. Staff Graphic Designer Jamie Claeys and Courtney Fellion, an alumnus graphic designer, won in the categories of 3-Color Brochure, Logo & Brand Identity, and Promotional Campaign.
