CU-Boulder ranks as 35th best public university
CU-Boulder ranked 35th among American public universities offering doctoral degrees in the U.S. News & World Report 2008 edition of America's Best Colleges. CU-Boulder tied for 35th with the University of California, Santa Cruz and tied for 79th with UC-Santa Cruz and Brigham Young University in the ranking of all doctoral universities, public and private. Argrow, Bowman named associate deans of engineering
Professors Brian Argrow and Christopher Bowman have been appointed associate deans in the College of Engineering and Applied Science. Argrow will serve as associate dean for education, and Bowman as associate dean for research. The appointments, announced by engineering Dean Robert Davis, were effective Aug. 1. Argrow is the Look Professor of Aerospace Engineering Sciences and directs the Research and Engineering Center for Unmanned Vehicles. He has been a President's Teaching Scholar since 2000. Bowman is the James and Catherine Patten Endowed Chair of Chemical and Biological Engineering, and he served as department chair from 2003 to 2007. He has a joint appointment at the CU School of Dentistry and co-directs the National Science Foundation Industry/University Cooperative Research Center for Fundamentals and Applications and Photopolymerizations.
Manuel Laguna named associate dean of faculty for Leeds School
Professor Manuel Laguna was named associate dean of faculty for the Leeds School of Business on Aug. 1.
Laguna, professor of operations management, will be responsible for research and technology support, faculty recruiting and evaluation, the doctoral program, faculty retention and resolving faculty issues. He said, "One of my short-term goals is to motivate my colleagues to work as a team to help the Leeds School of Business become the best in the region and a highly competitive player nationally."
