Who keeps our university in top shape? It's the People Behind the Scenes! Meet Mariko Kageyama, collections manager for vertebrate zoology at the University of Colorado Museum of Natural History (UCMNH).

What is one thing you would like people to know about the work you do?
Our vertebrate zoological collection at UCMNH, being comprised of over 100,000 specimens, is the largest in collection size in Colorado. I am responsible for maintaining and operating one of Colorado's most important natural history assets.

What do you like best about being a part of the CU community?
I like being a part of the academic excellence, leadership, and active interactions in many interdisciplinary fields the CU community offers and leverages. The museum especially contributes greatly to the community by taking multifaceted approaches to scientific questions relating to the global and local biodiversity.

What is your favorite activity/interest outside of work?
Outside of work, I value time I spend with my boyfriend, a genuine Boulderite. After moving from New York to Colorado two years ago, there still is a lot to learn from him about the unique Boulder culture.
