IN THE SPOTLIGHT Flagship 2030 report to be drafted this summer by Allison Sylvest, Internal Communications
Initial input from the campus community for the Flagship 2030 Strategic Plan has been gathered, and presentation to the steering committee is being prepared for the end of this month. Flagship 2030 is an initiative set forth by Chancellor G.P. "Bud" Peterson to "examine what the world might expect of us at the local, state, federal, and global levels in 2030, to articulate a vision for the University of Colorado at Boulder that will allow us to meet those expectations and demands, and to develop and implement action plans that will allow us to achieve that vision and fulfill those expectations." On May 3, the chancellor hosted an open forum to summarize the work of the steering committee. Over 150 faculty, staff and students attended and offered feedback. Information from community members has also been gathered through the Flagship 2030 website, as well as through other forums and meetings of the steering committee's subcommittees. "It is my hope that the planning process is now on most people's radar," said Stuart Takeuchi, planning coordinator for the Flagship 2030 Strategic Planning project. The chancellor's cabinet is preparing a draft of the strategic plan for presentation to the steering committee on June 29, which will then be presented to the CU Board of Regents during their Aug. 15 general study session. Opportunities to provide additional input on the Flagship 2030 plan will be offered throughout the fall. The chancellor is expected to request approval of the plan from the Board of Regents Nov. 29. More information on the Flagship 2030 plan, as well as essays and input from faculty and other CU-Boulder community members, is available on the website.
