IN THE SPOTLIGHT

Passages: In Memoriam 2006-2007

"Passages" is our annual tribute to colleagues who have passed on during the year.

Doris M. Olsen (May 30, 1938 – September 26, 2006)
Doris Olsen, retired from Counseling & Psychological Services in 2003, was a powerful, insightful, and deeply spiritual advocate for women. In her 27 years at CU, she changed the lives of many grateful students, faculty, and staff members. She worked on the Women's Studies Advisory Board, headed the Women's Center, served on the Chancellor's Committee on the Status of Women, advised the Dorothy "Happy" Martin Scholarship Fund for Women, and developed and taught a longstanding Peer Counseling course. For 20 years she met regularly and continuously with a group of women exploring feminist spirituality, and drawing from her experience with adoption, Doris led an adoption group even after retirement. Her interests included literature, history, music, theater, and the arts. Colleagues knew she started each day in her office listening to opera, which often moved her to tears.

Passages is a recognition for recent employees; you can contact the Silver & Gold Record for obituary notices for retired employees.
