BFA Excellence awardees honored
Last week, the Boulder Faculty Assembly honored eleven faculty members with 2006-2007 Excellence Awards. Excellence in Teaching award recipients are Noah Finkelstein, physics; David Klaus, aerospace engineering; and Dale Mood, integrative physiology. Excellence in Service award recipients are Anne Bliss, program in writing and rhetoric; Bud Coleman, theatre and dance; Elisa Facio, ethnic studies; and David Rood, linguistics. Recipients of the Excellence in Research, Scholarly and Creative Work award are Barbara Demmig-Adams, ecology and evolutionary biology; Doug Gin, chemistry and biochemistry; Paul Levitt, English; and Warren Motte, French and Italian.
Environmental Awards recognize campus leaders
The CU Environmental Center recently honored recipients of the 2007 Campus Environmental Awards. The awards recognize outstanding individuals and departments who demonstrate a sincere commitment to reducing the burden that CU-Boulder places on the environment. The winners of the Campus Environmental Awards are Amin Gheysar, Individual Achievement; Carrie Gibadlo, Student Achievement; Mike Hannigan, Green Faculty; Housing and Dining Services, Departmental Achievement; Chancellor G.P. "Bud" Peterson, Climate Leadership; Moe Tabrizi, Sustainability Leadership; Paul Weissmann, Outstanding Alumni; Amy Harris, Honorable Mention; and Sigma Pi Fraternity, Honorable Mention. Equity and Excellence 2007 award winners
The Office of Diversity and Equity will honor eight recipients of the 22nd annual Equity and Excellence Awards at a banquet Thursday, April 26. Professor Kathy Escamilla of the School of Education will receive the faculty award. Staff recipients are Robin Margolin, UMC Food Service; Julia Kay Willis, Student Academic Services Center; Sunnie Gist, Facilities Management; and Maria Silva, Facilities Management. Undergraduate student awards will be given to Israel Garcia (sociology) and Samira Rajabi (management), and the graduate student award recipient is Josh Carney (communication).
CU-Boulder Student Employee of the Year honored at luncheon
Lauren Gunderson, a senior mathematics major, was honored as CU-Boulder's 2007 Student Employee of the Year at a luncheon earlier this month. Gunderson is employed by the Colorado Space Grant Consortium, which is sponsored by NASA to design, build, test and fly space experiments. Candidates for CU-Boulder Student Employee of the Year can be nominated by both off campus and on campus student supervisors, and winners are selected by an independent panel of staff members.
