Who keeps our university in top shape? It's the People Behind the Scenes! Meet Lori Jackson, program assistant for Property Services' distribution center.
What is one thing you would like people to know about the work you do?
I work at the distribution center (DC) for Property Services. I wear many hats in this position. My primary function as Program Assistant I is managing the food and beverage vending program at UCB. The vending operation helps support scholarships, financial aid to dependants of faculty/staff and auxiliary locations such as Housing, the UMC and the Recreation Center. Overall, I am proud to be part of the small but strong administrative support group for the DC. This gives me an opportunity to provide or assist in many different areas of need for maintaining dependable operations for Materiel Management, Property and Mailing Services.
What do you like best about being a part of the CU community?
I would have to start with the great people I work with at the distribution center, who are so motivated, energetic and focused on servicing the campus. Nearly 12 years with CU have presented the continuous opportunity to interact with dedicated professionals and their unique personalities from across campus and beyond. In addition to the many fine people I have met through the vending operation over the past seven years, being on the DC safety committee and attending most of the monthly Facilities Management safety meetings has brought more interaction with and understanding about campus operations. I am a member of the Fac Man customer focus group, working to improve current processes and create new ones for smooth interaction with Facilities Management in meeting campus needs. The student population is also exciting. We are fortunate to witness a future of unlimited new adventure, inventions and innovations.
What is your favorite activity/interest outside of work?
Being outdoors, travel (especially road trips), camping, fishing, snow skiing, the mountains, deep wooded forest, or the sea. Indoors I enjoy a little creative woodworking, crafts, refinishing furniture, and jigsaw puzzles. I love to help and spend time with friends and family. Simple projects or even the tougher ones are fun and rewarding. And oh, the sports! GO BUFFS, GO AVS, GO BRONCOS and GO ROCKIES! |
