Pinecones, Not Pineapples at Wolf
Law
Yes, those curious oval sculptures crowning
the windows at Wolf Law are not pineapples,
as popularly believed, but rather PINECONES.
The motif was selected to represent CU Law"s
environmental as well as western roots. The
law school has been part of the university
for 114 years, proudly producing attorneys
in water, mining, and natural resources law.
Sometimes referred to as “cartouches,” or
oval ornaments, the cast pinecone depictions
serve to remind students of Wolf Law"s
long heritage.
Class of 2010 “Mindset”
Want to know what the next generation of students
is thinking? Beloit College"s annual “Mindset” list
provides a quick insight into the cultural
history and influences that have shaped the
Class of 2010. For example, this year"s
freshmen were mostly born in 1988 and have
never known a world without computers. Many
have never mailed a letter using a stamp,
and while the Soviet Union and 8-track tape
players never existed for them, barcodes,
the Internet, and global warming always have.
