FROM THE CHANCELLOR UCSU 2006-2007 Goals By Andrew Aitchison, Ashley Nakagawa and Charles Johnson
We are the “Class Act” ticket, your 2006-2007 University of Colorado Student Union (UCSU) tri-executives, and we are very excited about the upcoming school year! We look forward to continuing our hard work during the summer into the academic year. Our reasons for wanting to be tri-executives revolve around service to the CU community. We would like to see the CU campus, community, and student body attain the highest achievement possible, and we dedicate ourselves to serving this cause. Our goal, first and foremost, is to represent the student body. While this may be a daunting task considering the impressive size and diversity of our campus, we plan to work hard to understand the varying viewpoints that make CU an incredible place to attain an education and translate those views into policy. It is critically important to us that all CU students feel that their voices are heard and their opinions represented through student government. We have several goals that we aim to accomplish during our term. Increased support for CU"s student groups is vital to the vibrancy of the student body, and we will work hard this year to foster the growth of all student groups. Improving CU"s image is an overarching goal for us, and we intend to do this by drawing positive media attention to all of the great things CU has to offer. In the long run, improving CU"s image proves valuable to CU students by reestablishing the quality of a CU education and by increasing the value of students" degrees. Additionally, we will demand fiscal accountability in the use of student fees. All of the valuable services UCSU provides, such as the University Memorial Center, the Recreation Center, and Wardenburg Health Center, should continue to be run efficiently and effectively, as they are provided by students for students. As tri-executives, we are looking forward to an exciting and productive academic year. We are incredibly eager to serve the entire student body and do our best to improve the CU community. Thank you for supporting the University of Colorado Student Union, and we sincerely hope you enjoy the school year of 2006-07! |
