Custodian/Housekeeper Appreciation Day Facilities Management cordially invites faculty, staff, and students to attend the second annual Custodian/Housekeeper Appreciation Day to be celebrated on Friday, Sept. 8 in the Stadium Clubhouse 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. Take a few moments to show your support for our hard working Environmental Services staff. The event includes buffet style foods, music, and tributes from CU administrators and students.
New Book Features Coach Kathy McConnell-Miller
CU Women's basketball coach Kathy McConnell-Miller reminisces about her experiences as a University of Virginia star player in a new book, "Mad about U: Four Decades of Basketball at University Hall," to be released in October. McConnell-Miller discusses how her mentor, Coach Debbie Ryan, inspired her to enter the coaching ranks herself. "Mad about U" will be published by Augusta Free Press Publishing of Waynesboro, Virginia.
After 50 Years, CSF Looks Ahead to 2007
Colorado Shakespeare Festival, at 50 years the second oldest Shakespeare Festival in America, launches its golden anniversary season beginning Aug. 22. Featuring alumni such as Val Kilmer, Annette Bening, and Jimmy Smits, CSF has been recognized by TIME magazine as one of the important Shakespeare festivals in the U.S. According to John Villani, author of the travel book, "The 100 Best Art Towns in America," CSF is a major reason that Boulder is ranked the sixth best art town in the nation for towns with populations between 30,000 and 100,000.

Assistant Dean Jim Sherman Retires
Jim Sherman, assistant dean of the College of Engineering and Applied Science, is retiring from the university after 35 years of contributions to the campus community. His retirement party will be held Friday, Sept. 1, 3:15 p.m. to 5:10 p.m. in the Engineering Center Lobby. Those who have worked with Jim are encouraged to submit their memories and well wishes for his memory book by emailing them to Terry Mayes at terry.mayes@colorado.edu no later than Friday, Aug. 25.
