Drees Receives 2006 Staff Council Service Recognition Award
This spring Larry Drees of Housing Administration was named the Boulder campus recipient of the University of Colorado Staff Council Service Award. Drees has an impressive record of involvement in staff governance at the campus and system levels and has volunteered for numerous campus, system, professional and community committees and activities over the past 21 years.
Erwin Receives Governor's Star Award
Katherine Erwin, manager of the Office of Labor Relations, received the 2006 Governor's Star Award for Manager of the Year in May. Katherine has been with CU-Boulder for 12 years. In her position as manager, she has received many letters of gratitude from employees whom she has guided through difficult situations. She has initiated new programs and has demonstrated a commitment to diversity. The Star Awards are given each year by the Department of Personnel and Administration to state employees who contribute to the betterment of the state government.
Director of Sports Video Honored by Big 12
Jamie Guy was named the 2005-06 Big 12 Video Coordinator of the Year by his conference peers. Guy is the first CU staff member to earn the award since its creation in 1997. Each week, Guy produces a video package of the Buffs" previous games to send to opponents" video departments for scouting purposes and prepares video of CU"s practices and games for viewing in team, coach and position meetings. In addition to football, he handles the sports video demands of men"s and women"s basketball, volleyball and soccer.
Steve Jones Receives Award
Assistant Dean Steve Jones of the School of Journalism and Mass Communication is the first recipient of the William Payden award, recently established by an alumnus of the School. Jones received a marble plaque and a check for $12,000.

Muchas Gracias, Midnight Breakfast Volunteers!
The UMC would like to thank staff from several departments who volunteered at the annual Midnight Breakfast, May 8. These dedicated volunteers prepared and served food for over 1,400 students as a study break and finals fiesta. Thank you to the School of Journalism and Mass Communication, Student Affairs, UCSU, Greek Affairs, SOFO, Housing and Residence Life, Wardenburg, the CU Bookstore, CIRES and Financial Aid.
