IN THE SPOTLIGHT In the Spotlight with John Krueger, Assistant Athletic Director for Facilities
The architectural beauty of the Boulder campus is world renowned and our buildings often are viewed as the face of the university. In this series, “In the Spotlight,” we ask CU-Boulder building directors to give us a behind-the-scenes look at the facilities and programs they manage - along with a glimpse into their personalities. Part eight of this series features John Krueger, assistant athletic director for facilities. What is one thing you would like people to know about your buildings or your job? As the assistant athletic director for facilities, I am responsible for everything that occurs in an athletic department facility at some level, including the daily maintenance and upkeep. I have been lucky enough to be involved in the recent construction of an addition to Folsom Field, the construction of the Dal Ward Athletic Center, and many other facility renovations and projects over the past 24 years I have been on campus. My job is never dull, with every day presenting new challenges. One thing I would like people to know about our facilities is that we hope the campus community will feel welcome and enjoy themselves in them, whether they are coming to a football game at Folsom Field or attending a banquet in the Byron White Stadium Club. To the extent possible, I strive to make all of these facilities available for use by campus constituents and hope their event presents the athletic department, as well as the entire university, in the best possible light. If you had to name the best live musical performance you have ever attended, which would you pick? I really enjoy listening to live music and have attended many different shows at many different venues. It is tough to name my favorite, but some of my favorites included George Benson at Macky Auditorium, the Charlie Daniels Band at the Rainbow Music Hall, Paul McCartney at Folsom Field, and Seal at Red Rocks Amphitheatre. If I hadn"t been working at the Paul McCartney concert, that would probably have been my favorite. | In the Spotlight with John Krueger, Assistant Athletic Director for Facilities CU's "National Council" Returns For Ninth Year Summer Session With Faculty From Around The World A Conversation With Coach Hawk Passages: In Memoriam 2005-2006 ATLAS Building On Schedule To Open In August By the Numbers |
