Winter Warmth Drive Sees Large Increase in Donations
The 2005 Winter Warmth Drive collected 248 adult coats, a 160% increase over the 2004 drive; 56 children coats, a 215% increase; and 44 blankets. Thank you to all who donated items to make this winter a warmer one for those in need!
Colorado Combined Campaign a Success
Contributions raised through the 2005 CU System Colorado Combined Campaign totaled $162,125.96. At CU-Boulder CIRES had the highest number of participating employees and the highest amount of money given. The highest percent of participation for a department between 11 and 50 employees was Transportation Services. The highest percent of participation for a department with more than 50 employees was UMS. Erin Frazier of Community Relations is the new vice-chair for the State CCC Advisory Committee, where she has represented higher education for the past three years.
Community Builder Brick Award
Cheryl Brazeau, budget officer for the provost and executive vice chancellor for academic affairs, was recognized January 31 as a recipient of the Community Brick Builder award. Brazeau's service on numerous policy-making committees, assistance with personnel matters, and her ability to display "high integrity" and to "advocate truth and equality in all aspects of life" warranted her nomination as a valuable community leader.
Sixth Annual Women Who Make a Difference Award Recipients Honored
Every year the Women's Resource Center honors woman who affect their community positively in their capacities as mothers, teachers, mentors, friends and co-workers. This year's 25 recipients were honored with a reception in Norlin Library's British Studies Room on Jan 26. Women are honored for personal and professional contributions and accomplishments and combinations of the two. The WRC invites community members to honor a woman who makes a difference in their life or the lives of others. See Womens Resource Center.
University Communications Awards
Staff in Web Communications and Publications/Creative Services recently received recognition from the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) District VI's institutional awards program. Awards and recipients were: Excellence in Multimedia, Grand Gold, Executive MBA web site - Will Kubie, Malinda Miller-Huey, Kevin Crafts, Jan Autrey, and Jon Leslie, and Excellence in Photography, Silver, CU men's basketball photo - Larry Harwood.
