Staff Council Update - Open Forum Sessions
By Allison Sylvest

It is the charge of Boulder Campus Staff Council members to know about the issues and events that affect employees. Now they're working to make that information more readily available to staff members by hosting regular open forums that will cover various topics.

"We want to get more information out to all staff so they can learn about what's going on and get involved," said Staff Council Chair Cynthia Ocken. "Our goal for this year is to educate staff on things that can affect their day-to-day work lives in one way or another."

The next open forum takes place Nov. 8 from noon to 2 p.m. in UMC 235 and will introduce CUConnect to staff who have not yet taken advantage of all the portal has to offer. On Dec. 13 at the same time and location, there will be an open forum with Chancellor G.P. "Bud" Peterson, and once a month during the legislative session, the open forums will focus on topics being discussed by our government that concern those involved in higher education.

While Staff Council maintains their role as morale boosters and community builders by hosting events such as the staff breakfast and regular blood drives in association with Bonfils Blood Center, Ocken feels it's important to expand their role as a resource for staff. "We're the perfect source for information," she said.

Details on all open forum sessions will be posted on the Boulder Campus Staff Council website. Staff also may receive a schedule of forum meeting times, as well as regular Staff Council meetings, by subscribing for the information on CUConnect.
