Paul Voakes Selected for Leadership Institute
Dean Paul Voakes of the School of Journalism and Mass Communication has been selected for the Journalism/Mass Communication Leadership Institute, a new program funded by the Knight Foundation that identifies "promising new deans and directors" of journalism programs and gives them training and executive coaching over 18 months. Voakes has also been selected to mentor a female faculty member in the organization's training program for women and professors of color.

Jim Curry, Anne Dougherty Recognized for Contributions to Digital Scholarship
At the recent Multimedia Educational Resource for Learning and Online Teaching international conference in Nashville, Applied Mathematics Professors Jim Curry and Anne Dougherty were recognized for their contribution to digital scholarship. Their module, Mathematical Visualization Toolkit, received the highest honor of the 2005 Editors Choice Award. The project also involved undergraduate and graduate students in applied math and computer science, along with industry professionals at Sun Microsystems' Educational Services division.
GLBT Resource Center Receives Grant
The Gay Lesbian Bisexual Transgender (GLBT) Resource Center recently received a $4,000 grant from the Open Door Fund of the Community Foundation Serving Boulder County in support of its Safe Zone Ally Development training program. These trainings will be offered throughout the year to campus and Boulder community members with the goal of helping participants to develop a deeper awareness of persona ideas, stereotypes and cultural assumptions related to the GLBT community and to help increase participants' comfort level in supporting GLBT individuals.
