Theatre & Dance Set for Great Fall Semester Performances
By Vanessa Lozano, senior, School of Journalism and Mass Communication

The department of theatre and dance will have a full season of productions this semester and a few new faces to help out behind the scenes.

"Our new assistant professor, Markas Henry, comes to us with a wealth of experience," said Bud Coleman, department chair.

Henry has an extensive background in set and costume design, including more than 100 off-Broadway productions. He was the costume producer for "Storm," a show at the Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, as well as Britney Spears' "Dream Within a Dream" tour.

Also joining the theatre and dance department is public relations director Pam Stone who brings more than 19 years of experience in marketing communications, public relations and art direction to the position.

"After many years of running her own business, Pam is excited to bring her prodigious professional talents to marketing theatre and dance programming," said Coleman.

In addition to new faculty and staff, the department will welcome two nationally know visiting artists this fall. Susan Marshall will choreograph a new piece for CU-Boulder students. Playwright Lee Blessing, author of "Two Rooms," will be in residency around the production of his play. He will act as an advisor to the creative team, guest teach several classes and conduct a playwriting workshop.

Along with "Two Rooms," the 2005-2006 season of productions includes "Seussical the Musical," "Breaking the Code," "Machinal," "The Learned Ladies," "Richard III," the CU Fringe Festival, DanceWorks 2006 as well as MFA and BFA dance concerts.

For more information on the department of theatre and dance, including show times and ticket prices, visit Theatre & Dance or call the Box Office at (303) 492-8181.
