FROM THE CHANCELLOR GOLDEN Ticket to CU's Future By Mebraht 'Mo" Gebre-Michael, Jeremy Jimenez and Brad Long, UCSU Tri-Executives
We are "The Golden Ticket," the 2005-2006 University of Colorado Student Union (UCSU) Tri-Executives and we are very excited about the upcoming school year! We have been operating all summer preparing for the academic year and working in transition for this amazing opportunity and enormous job responsibility. As Tri-Executives, we represent the voices of the student body. With nearly 29,000 students coming from various ethnic, racial, religious and gender backgrounds, it is not easy to represent every voice. We will continue to work hard towards better serving the student body at large and working with faculty and staff to make the University of Colorado at Boulder a safe and inclusive environment for all. We have several goals set forth for the upcoming year. We wish to inform students about voter registration drives and work towards increasing the participation of students in our right to vote. We foresee that faculty and staff will aid UCSU in informing students how to effectively participate in our democracy. We also look forward to working with faculty and staff to ensure that the Course Forgiveness Pilot Program is institutionalized and the Fall Break schedule is kept in the best interests of students. We anticipate that faculty and staff will incorporate diversity in multiple aspects of life, especially throughout classrooms, and help contribute to creating an inclusive campus environment for students, administration, faculty and staff. This year is very important because the November election could have a critical impact on the future of higher education in Colorado. We hope that faculty and staff will become informed on Referenda C and D because of possible effects on CU-Boulder funding. We are eager for the fall semester to begin and to persist on carrying out our goals and objectives for the year. Thank you for supporting the University of Colorado Student Union and our efforts to assist, represent and support the student body. We are very energized for the school year and look forward to working with faculty and staff in opening the lines of communication. |
