Staff Council Spring Update
The University of Colorado at Boulder's Staff Council recently held their annual elections for campus representatives. Due to an error in the first ballot, the voting period was extended. The elections results will be approved at the May meeting and posted on the Staff Council Web site in June.
Although staff must be elected to participate in council decision-making, all CU-Boulder staff are welcome to volunteer on a committee or attend meetings, usually held on the first Wednesday of each month.
Staff Council serves as a liaison between staff employees and administration of the university, and also offers many opportunities to give back to the community at large. Right now, the blood drive committee is gearing up for summer drives in June and August, to be held on East Campus.
Debborah Luntsford, chair of the blood drive committee, would like to see strong participation from faculty and staff.
"It's a way to give back, and possibly save a life," she said. "Plus, the cookies are great!"
Upcoming Staff Council events include the annual tour of the State Capitol on April 28, with guest speakers on legislative issues, and the annual Staff Appreciation Luncheon on April 29.
This year's luncheon, "Rock 'n Roll is Here to Stay," features a presentation by Remar Sutton, a national consumer advocate and the opportunity to donate personal care items for the Emergency Family Assistance and Boulder Shelter for the Homeless.
