In 2013, the State of Colorado was identified as the “2nd best state in entrepreneurship and innovation” by both the US Chamber of Commerce and Inc Magazine. In addition, CNBC named Colorado the “2nd best state to start a business”. In 2012, venture capital firms invested $587 million in Colorado.
Boulder has been producing great entrepreneurial companies since 1960. In 2010, Boulder had six times more high-tech startups per capita than the national average according to the Kauffman Foundation. Boulder County ranks among the top 20 most productive metro areas in terms of GDP.
