Imaging Services Technical Scope of Work

This “Scope of Work” identifies the core of Imaging Services capabilities, with current equipment and staffing levels.  This document will be changed accordingly if technical capabilities change. 

PRINTING:

One color (black or 1 PMS color) offset work within the following guidelines: 

• Up to 20,000 quantity, single sheets
• Maximum print area of 12" X 18" (including bleeds)
• Maximum sheet size* of 12" x 18"
• Line screen of 133 lines per inch
• Specified as Level 1 – BASIC Printing (or) Level 2 – GOOD Printing per Document D: CU-Boulder Terms and Conditions for Printing Contracts.

Such work includes posters, postcards, labels, permits, carbonless forms, brochures, note pads, business reply materials, and booklets (see booklet specs under BINDERY).

Two colors (black ink plus one PMS color, or two PMS colors) offset work within the following guidelines:

• Up to 15,000 quantity, single sheets
• Maximum print area of 12" X 18"  (including bleeds)
• Maximum sheet size* of 12" x 18"
• Line screen of 133 lines per inch
• Specified as Level 2 – GOOD Printing per Document D: CU-Boulder Terms and Conditions for Printing Contracts.

Such work includes business cards and letterhead (including all standard University stationery items), posters, postcards, brochures, newsletters, and booklets (see booklet specs under BINDERY).

One-color (1c) and two color offset printing on pre-converted envelopes within the following guidelines:

• Up to 30,000 quantity
• Maximum print area 9.75" X 12"
• Maximum paper size* of 10" X 13"
• Line screen of 133 lines per inch
• Specified as Level 2 – GOOD Printing per Document D: CU-Boulder Terms and Conditions for Printing Contracts.

Such work includes standard #10 business envelopes.  [Note: Pre-converted envelopes are envelopes that are die cut and folded/ assembled/glued. Printing may occur on face or flap of envelope.)

*NOTE: The maximum paper size run-able on an IS press directly correlates to the parent sheet size available in the paper specified. If the parent sheet does not efficiently cut to a run-able size for an IS press, the job is not an appropriate fit for IS equipment.

COPYING:

Black only digital printing (dry toner – electro-reprographic) within the following guidelines:

• Up to 20,000 quantity
• Sheet Size up to 12" x 18"
• Maximum print area 11"x17" (including bleed)
• Inline collating up to 80 sheets
• Paper stock up to 80# cover
• Specified as Level 1 – BASIC Printing (or) low end Level 2 – GOOD Printing per Document D: CU-Boulder Terms and Conditions for Printing Contracts.

Such work includes letters, booklets, fliers, invitations, handouts, etc.

Color Copying (from hard copies only – not digital files)

• Sheet size up to 11" x 17"
• Quantity: up to 200 copies
• Available stock: 28# Color Copier Paper; 80# Color Copy Cover

PROOFING METHODS:

• Blueline
• Black/white laser proofs – imposed from pre-flighted art file
• Color laser proofs

BINDERY:

• Score
• Perforation
• Folding
  • Letter fold
  • Right angle fold
  • Double parallel fold
  • Gate Fold

  • Finished size: down to minimum of 2" x 2"; up to maximum of 12" x 18"
• Collate up to 800 pages (400 flat sheets, in line) black only; or 16 flat sheets of multiple color work, up to 11"X17"
• Saddle-stitch up to 64 pages and/or up to 3/8” thickness:
  • Up to 20,000 quantity
  • Maximum page size of 9"x12"
  • Specified as Level 2 – GOOD Printing per Document D: CU-Boulder Terms and Conditions for Printing Contracts.
  • Such work includes self-cover and plus cover booklets and manuals referred to under 1- and 2-color printing above.
• Wire-o up to 2"
• Plastic comb up to 2 ½"
• Tape Bind up to 350 sheets, plus cover.
• Coil (plastic) to 1 ¾"
• Perfect bind (paperback or “fastback” style, without hard cover) to 300 sheets of 20# bond or equivalent width, plus cover.
• Staple up to 5/8" flat sheet.
