December 2, 2006 9:00 am - 12:00 pm, Muenzinger Psychology Building Auditorium, Room E050 - A public seminar titled " Inform and Empower: A Seminar on Homelessness" will be held and will feature Jamie Van Leeuwen, Project Manager of "Road Home," Denver's program to drastically reduce homelessness and breakout sessions with other notable speakers. This seminar is organized by CU Students in the President's Leadership Class. For more information, call 303-588-3776 .
October 25, 2006 3:30 to 5:00 pm, ATLAS Boardroom, # 229 - There will be a workshop to help interested or persuadable faculty fund, plan and conduct courses and activities that send  students out to learn from and assist the larger community.  There will be representatives from the Outreach Committee, the Institute for Ethical and Civic Engagement, Service Learning, and the Volunteer Clearing House.  Topics included grant deadlines and application guidelines, ways to integrate experiential and ethical aspects into academic goals, and resources for community placements. Come listen and question constitutional experts, Law Professors Clare Huntington and Robert Nagel and State Senators Ken Gordon and Shawn Mitchell as they debate and discuss interpretation of the constitution as a "strict constructionist" vs.. Dr. Cutforth will introduce the concept; discuss its advantages to students, faculty and CU; and address challenges and solutions. Part of an IECE/Geography funded initiative to develop a Research Service Learning program at CU (integrating undergraduate research and service learning.) Reception immediately following.
