Dear Colleagues,

We are writing to announce the 33rd annual CoTESOL Fall Convention and to invite you to submit a proposal to participate.  The convention will be held from November 13-14, 2009 at the Red Lion Hotel Denver Southeast.  This will be an opportunity for you to gain valuable insights and skills, while enjoying the company of your colleagues.

The CoTESOL 2009 convention returns to the Red Lion Hotel Denver Southeast again this fall, the site of last year’s convention.  During these tough economic times, the Red Lion offers us the best value for our budget.  Consider treating yourself to a pleasant hotel stay at the Red Lion at a special rate of $89 per night (including breakfast buffet for two), and be sure to book your room early.

This year, our convention theme is “Lost in Translation: Local Practice Versus Global Trends.”  Many of you were lucky enough to attend the fantastic TESOL conference that was held in Denver in March.  The CoTESOL Fall Convention will give you a chance to compare the research and practices of the international TESOL community to the important work being done in our own state.  Of course, as always, our convention will feature well-known plenary speakers, insightful presentations, and enlightening exhibits.   And, the convention is always a wonderful opportunity to network with your Colorado colleagues.

Our success relies on the participation and presentations of ESL professionals such as you, so please make your plans to attend and think about submitting a proposal for a paper, demonstration, panel, discussion, or poster session.  For those of you who have never presented before, we encourage you to take the plunge this year!   It’s not only a great experience, but all presenters receive a $10 discount on their registration fee.

You can find guidelines and forms for submitting a proposal ONLINE by going to CoTESOL’s website, www.colorado.edu/iec/cotesol.  Submissions will not be accepted by mail this year.

We look forward to seeing you in Denver in November.

Sincerely,
