- Charting Trends in Population Health: An Introduction to the NCHS Data
Warehouse on Trends in Health and Aging.
- The Data Warehouse is an online data archive with nearly 100 dynamic tables
containing national-level demographic and health data. The warehouse
provides users with a relatively easy way to obtain important macro-level
data on trends in health and aging. It was developed by the National Center
for Health Statistics, part of CDC, with generous assistance from NIA.
- In the lecture we talk in a general way about what the warehouse is, the
information in the warehouse, ways you can use it, what it looks like, and
how it works. We also consider some of the data issues that arise when
building multiple time series.

- How to use the NCHS Data Warehouse on Trends in Health and Aging.
-
In this workshop you'll learn how to use a powerful online tool to obtain
information on trends in population health and aging. The NCHS Data
Warehouse on Trends in Health and Aging is a compilation of approximately
100 dynamic tables containing national and state level demographic and
health data. The warehouse provides users with an easy way to obtain
important macro-level data on trends in health and aging.
- In this "hands-on" lab session you'll learn how to use the warehouse
software to:
* Access data from a number of data systems including Vital Statistics,
the National Health Interview Survey, National Health Care Survey, BRFSS,
and the Medicare Current Beneficiary Survey,
* Access important documentation, manipulate tables, and do on-line
graphs and maps,
* Do online calculations and statistical tests,
* Efficiently search and isolate the data and tables you need for your
research, grant proposal, lectures, and manuscripts. Please sign up for this workshop by contacting Lori Hoppe
at Lori.Hoppe@colorado.edu or 2-7986.
