Spring 2006 Institutions News Archive

Several Program members attended the Association of American Geographers 2006 Annual Meeting in Chicago, IL, March 7-11.

John O'Loughlin organized and chaired the Political Geography Specialty Group/Elsevier Science Annual Plenary Lecture and a session, The Geography of War Outcomes: Bosnia and the North Caucasus, Russia, at which he also presented a paper, "The outcomes of wars in Bosnia and the North Caucasus: War experiences, ethnic distances, and conflict potentials."

Lynn Staeheli presented a paper, "Locating the public in research and practice," and was a panelist at two sessions: Immigration and Multiculturalism in an Age of Insecurity and Labours of Love: Gender, Reproduction and the Academy.

Aimee Kelly presented a paper, "Motivations, Identity, and the Distribution of Social Resources: Looking at Community Health Centers in the Front Range of Colorado."

Dan Trudeau organized and chaired a panel session, Researching the City, and presented a paper, "Regulating - and Contesting - Urban Citizenship."

Frank Witmer presented a paper, "Detecting Land-Use/Land-Cover Change in Northeast Bosnia using Landsat Multispectral Imagery."


Ian Feinhandler and Daniel Trudeau have been awarded the Graduate Part-time Instructor Award by the Department of Geography, April 2006. Congratulations!
