Director, IBS Problem Behavior Program
The Institute of Behavioral Science, in collaboration with the Departments of Sociology and Psychology at the University of Colorado at Boulder, invites applications for a tenured position to direct the established and internationally recognized IBS Problem Behavior Program beginning Fall of 2011. The full professor level is targeted. The Director leads the Program in conducting and fostering nationally-recognized interdisciplinary and collaborative research and securing external funding and serves as a member of the IBS Board of Directors. We are seeking applicants with a specialization in one or more areas of problem behavior, such as: criminology, social/developmental psychology, mental health, epidemiology, social policy, program evaluation, and quantitative research methods. Candidates are expected to have an established and ongoing program of original research, a distinguished publication record, and demonstrated ability to obtain external funding, as well as a record of high-quality teaching. Tenure will be held in Sociology or Psychology. Review of candidates will begin October 25, 2010 and continue until the position is filled. Research Associate-Matlab Health and Socioeconomic Survey 2
The Institute of Behavioral Science (IBS) at the University of Colorado Boulder seeks a Research Associate (post-doctoral position) for Wave 2 of the Matlab Health and Socioeconomic Survey (MHSS2). The project examines the long-term effects of health and human capital interventions in rural Bangladesh using 35 years of household, community, and facility data. The successful candidate will be expected to:
i) co-lead the field and data management operations of MHSS2;
ii) oversee tracking and interview of MHSS respondents who have migrated out of the study site;
iii) co-author key publications from the project; and
iv) develop an independent and innovative research agenda utilizing these data.
The interdisciplinary nature of IBS and this project offer opportunities for mixed methods analysis and for cross-national comparisons. The candidate should have strong methodological skills and experience in working with large survey data sets. A strong interest in field research is necessary, and past experience is desirable. A Ph.D. in demography, economics, sociology, geography, public health, or related discipline is required.
The appointment is for three years, to begin as early as July 2010. Some preference will be given to Bengali speakers. The appointment includes at least one year in Bangladesh at ICDDR,B and one year in Colorado at CU. Screening begins January 1, 2010 and continues until position is filled.
