Institute of Behavioral Science - IBS

The University Library employs bibliographers who specialize in each academic discipline. They provide bibliographic instruction to advanced undergraduate or graduate classes, and they are available for personal appointments to discuss research projects or problems. Bibliographers are responsible for the selection of books and journals purchased by the University Libraries for every academic department, and they welcome purchase suggestions from the faculty, staff, students, and the general public.

IBS Library Services are coordinated by Lindy Schultz, IBS Librarian. She is very knowledgeable and can provide helpful information about using the University Library System. For IBS Professional Staff she offers the following special services:

Customized Searches for articles relevant to specific research topics is one serviced offered. Using Chinook On-line Catalog and the "Social Sciences Citation Index (SSCI)", searches can be conducted by keyword, subject, and author, and at regular intervals, either weekly or monthly. Abstracts and references that result from the searches are e-mailed to researchers.

Book and Article Access is another service available to IBS Professional Staff. Retrieving reference materials is now very efficient with ZAP access to Interlibrary Loan materials and since articles are often available online. Popular sites for full-text articles are MEDLINE, JSTOR, and the Web of Science.
