Required Job Specific Training

Depending on your position with the University of Colorado at Boulder, you may need additional training that is required to perform your job duties. These trainings are all offered from departments outside of Human Resources, but you can navigate through the trainings to get the infomrmation you may need.

HRMS PeopleSoft
Human Resources Management System (PeopleSoft) training is being conducted by Payroll & Benefit Services (PBS). Staff requesting access to the HRMS system must attend the required training for their access needs.

Finance PeopleSoft and ACARD

Hazardous Waste Generator Training
This instruction is requirement for anyone generating chemical waste, handling hazardous materials or supervising those who do. Topics to be discussed are:
  • emergency procedures
  • waste handling methods
  • control of satellite accumulation areas
  • compliance with EPA regulations
  • efficient disposal of waste
  • pollution prevention and waste minimization
  • chemical control and inventory management
This training will ensure that your lab is in compliance with EPA regulations, that you're familiar with CU's hazardous waste program, and maintain a safer, cleaner workplace environment.

These sessions are seminar style with approximately 5-20 people per session. Individual departments with 5 or more generators are welcome to request a seminar specifically for their staff.

Transportation Services
Last year, over 41,000 people were killed, 2.2 million injured, and 181 billion dollars were spent because of automobile accidents on our nations' highways. If you don't want to be included among next years' statistics, attend this 4 hour program which presents defensive driving techniques in an interactive format.

This session includes the most recent information regarding air bags, anti-lock brakes, road rage, safety belts and child safety restraints. Individuals who drive as a requirement for his/her University employment and anyone under the age of 26 who drive University vehicles, i.e. student, staff, or faculty who lease and drive a vehicle from the Transportation Services is required to take a training.
