Performance Management and Evaluation for Classified Staff

The University of Colorado at Boulder has developed a performance management program in compliance with the State Personnel Board rules and procedures. The performance management program is designed to help employees achieve performance excellence and encourages collaboration between supervisors and employees, with an emphasis on continuous feedback. The Office of Labor Relations (OLR) is available to assist employees and supervisors in the administration of the performance management program.

Automatic Calculations Version - this version is formatted to populate the summary table and perform calculations.

Manual Calculations Version - this version is formatted to print and manually write the evaluation scores and calculations on the summary table.
     Planning and Evaluation Form (Word format) - can be manipulated if more than 9 goals are needed.

Boulder Campus Performance Management Deadlines and Information

The 2008-2009 performance management cycle ends on March 31, 2009. All classified staff hired on or before March 31, 2009 must be evaluated before May 1, 2009. All final evaluations must be received by the OLR by May 1, 2009.

The 2009-2010 performance management cycle begins on April 1, 2009. Performance Plans for the 2009-2010 cycle are due on June 1, 2009. The performance management process requires that a copy of the front page of the Planning and Evaluation form, with the planning box completed, be sent to the OLR by that date.

Employees must receive a new plan at the beginning of each evaluation cycle so that they can be fairly evaluated at the end of the performance management cycle. New plans must also be put into place within 30 days of an employee’s hire, promotion, demotion, transfer or change in supervisor.

The performance management process also requires that one coaching session/progress review meeting occur within the plan year. Coaching Sessions should be scheduled for the months of October and November.
