The Honors Faculty

The Honors Program Director is presently Professor Paul Beale. The Director is appointed full-time to the Honors Program and has the following duties:

• Recruiting qualified students for the Program
• Conducting summer orientations for entering students and parents
• Advising students on Program Requirements
• Presiding over Honors Convocations
• Serving on General Honors Thesis committees
• Teaching courses for the Program
• Developing the curriculum and recruiting faculty to teach Honors courses
• Chairs the Honors Council

The Program also has an Honors Faculty. The faculty have offices in the Program, keep regular office hours, teach Honors courses, and play an active role in directing and participating on Honors thesis committees. They also serve on the Honors Council and assist the Director in student recruitment and advising. The current faculty are:

• Paul Beale (Program Director and Professor of Physics)
• Dr. Dan Jones (Senior Instructor and Honors LEAD Mentor)
• Professor Christian Kopff (Associate Professor of Classics and Associate Program Director).
• Dr. Paul Strom (Senior Instructor and Kittredge Honors Director)
• Dr. Claudia Van Gerven (Senior Instructor, Writing Program Coordinator and Executive Editor of the Honors Journal)
